The Caitlan Barton '06 Memorial Scholarship was established in 2014 through the heartfelt generosity of her classmates, family, and friends. Caitlan attended Academy of Holy Angels from 2002-2006.
Caitlan (pictured) was a motivated, involved, and accomplished student. During her four years as a Star, she lettered in academics, soccer, hockey cheerleading, theater, music, and service. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and was captain of the hockey cheerleading team for three years. She received the Triple A Award for her achievements in arts, academics, and athletics. She was All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention for soccer, and she was selected to be on the Minnesota All-State Soccer Team. She was awarded Most Dedicated Cheerleader and received the Outstanding Music Participant Award in 2005-2006.
'Cait the Great' went on to graduate from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota where she doubled majored in International Business and Marketing and minored in Spanish. While she was pursuing a rewarding career as a Global Sourcing Product Manager at Target Corporation, she died tragically on February 13, 2014 on the way home from a workout class.
In order to honor Caitlan’s legacy in a beautiful way, this scholarship was established to support current AHA students in need of financial aid. As a reflection of Caitlan’s character, the recipients of the Caitlan Barton '06 Memorial Scholarship must maintain high standards in academics, leadership, service, and moral character.
This is a superb way to remember and honor Caitlan's life. This week marks what would have been Caitlan's 33rd birthday, and we hope you will help carry on her legacy by giving the gift of Catholic education to a deserving AHA student. #BeGreatLikeCait
