Stars Soccer Soars

Congratulations to the girls and boys Stars soccer teams on a safe and successful 2020 season!

Higlights from the 2020 girls soccer season include:

  • The team finished the season ranked #1 in the state with a perfect 13-0 record.
  • Senior attacker Mia Van der Heide was named 2020 Class A Ms. Soccer, the first student-athlete is AHA girls soccer history to earn this prestigious award.  Says coach Dave Marshak about Mia's achievement, "It has been a privilege and an honor to coach Mia throughout her four years at AHA. When I first met her as an 8th grader during a summer camp, I knew right away she was a special talent. One of the most complete attacking players that I have ever worked with, she was a threat to goal quite literally from anywhere in the offensive half of the field. She has scored great goals - jaw dropping goals that you don't expect to see from high school players. Her place as our all-time assist leader illustrates for all her unselfishness. She is an electrifying talent. What I will remember most though, is just how much fun it was to spend my afternoons with her during the fall over the last four years. I can't think of a player, better yet a person, more deserving of such an honor."
