Minnesota's annual Hockey Day festival is taking place the weekend of January 16-19th at the Parade Athletic Complex and the weekend is a highlight of the state's hockey season. Tom Chorske, Chair, said of the event, "With the beautiful downtown skylawn as the backdrop, the Parade Athletic Complex is going to be converted into an amazing outdoor rink surrounding by a village complete with food and beverages, music, and an array of additional vendors. Hockey Day 2020 promises to be one of the most memorable and vibrant events to celebrate hockey in Minneapolis and even more importantly, to support the youth hockey programs in Minneapolis with funds to provide increased access to all players and families."
Hockey Day Minnesota originated in 2007 by the Minnesota Wild to celebrate the game that has made Minnesota the State of Hockey. It is produced in partnership with FOX Sports North, Minnesota Hockey and the respective local community that serves as host each year. Previous locations include Baudette Bay (2007, 2008), Phalen Park (2009), Hermantown (2010), Moorhead (2011), Minnetonka (2012), Grand Rapids (2013), Elk River (2014), Saint Paul (2015), Duluth (2016), Stillwater (2017), St. Cloud (2018) and Bemidji (2019).
