Monday, May 20 - Senior retreat

The last school retreat for the Class of 2019 will take place on Monday, May 20. The senior retreat is famous for its traditions including a return of their freshman letters (written at their first AHA retreat!), the small group prayers, the large group games, and the focus on this senior class lasting legacy. The retreat includes a light breakfast and a lunch. Seniors will reflect on how they have grown spiritually over the last four years and spend time together listening to talks given by teachers on the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love. They will discuss in small groups how those virtues are important in their lives and will help them stay grounded in their faith as they venture off to college. The day is spent in community with activities, faith sharing, games, pictures, meal, and culminating with getting a letter they wrote to themselves as a 9th grader to look back on the four years they spent at AHA. It is a wonderful way for seniors to end their AHA career with friends and faith.

Friday, May 24 - Graduation practice and last school day for seniors only

On Friday, May 24, seniors will gather promptly at 7:50 a.m. in the Convocation Center. All seniors are expected to attend.  No food, drink, or gum is allowed in the gym. We will practice graduation-related activities in two locations: in the Convocation Center and at the Nicollet Entrance.  Female graduates must bring to practice the white shoes that they will wear for graduation. At the end of the graduation practice, we will distribute caps and gowns. We encourage seniors to open the cap and gown packet, try on the cap and gown, and press it according to the directions well before Celebration Day. Enclosed with caps and gowns will be information about any outstanding financial obligations your senior may have along with information on how to order commencement photos from Lifetouch. Lifetouch will also take the National Honor Society member photo and the photo of students and their alumni parents and grandparents on Celebration Day.  Information on how to order these photos can be found on the Lifetouch website.

Register for Star Power summer program

The Star Power Speed and Strength Program is an opportunity for student athletes to maximize their athletic potential. Star Power training represents the most advanced athletic training technologies available. These technologies include use of interval treadmill training, ground-based training, plyometrics, strength training, and resistance core training. They are designed to improve all aspects of athletic performance—strength, power, speed, agility, injury prevention and flexibility.

Besides teaching the body how to move, the Star Power Speed and Strength Program has the ability to show athletes how to successfully conquer the mental and physical components of their sport. Athletes will learn how to focus, gain confidence, and BELIEVE in themselves. The knowledge and skill athletes will gain from this program can be applied to any sport and throughout an entire athletic career. Any questions contact Coach Gunderson. Extra graduation announcements

Senior Parents: Ms. Kjorstad received a small number of extra graduation announcements from Jostens. If you are interested in 10-15 graduation announcements, contact Ms. Kjorstad and she can send them home with your senior or you can pick them up from school while supplies last. Thank you!

To get a STAR on the CCC Board

Senior Parents: Remind your student to bring in their admission and scholarship letters to their college counselor to get a STAR on the board. We need to know about scholarship awards for Celebration Day in the spring.

Senior grades count

Senior Parents: Please remind your senior that every college admission decision is conditional upon successful completion of high school. The college counselors will be sending a final transcript to the college your son or daughter decides to attend after graduation. Colleges DO review these grade reports and if they note dropped classes or decreased grades, they will and do reconsider admission decisions and in some cases, rescind admission. Any schedule changes for third trimester must first be approved by colleges as students have applied and been accepted to schools with the understanding your student was enrolled in certain classes. Any changes to those classes could also impact their admission decisions. We absolutely believe the work seniors are doing now will help them be prepared for a more successful transition to college in the fall.

Holy Angels June ACT prep class offered

There will be an ACT prep class offered June 5,6 and 7 for students taking the June or July ACT. The class is $200 and more information can be found here. The deadline to register is Tuesday, May 28. Questions? Contact Ms.KjorstadGet form.

Commencement and Celebration Day

You received a letter this week with more details about Commencement and Celebration Day. Read the letter. Included in this letter was a list of the senior class and their plans for fall. This information will be listed in the graduation bulletin and at Celebration Day. Because we need to be consistent in how we announce scholarships, we do need to see the actual letter to ensure correct spelling of your students's scholarship. Please proofread your student's information carefully to ensure we have their information listed correctly. Here is an updated list. All information needs to be communicated to their college counselor by May 20, 2019 to ensure it will be included in Celebration Day and Graduation.

College decision and scholarship information

Senior Parents: The college counselors are still tracking down college decision and scholarship information from your students. Please remind your child to see their college counselor so that we have accurate information for Graduation and Celebration Day.

If your senior registered for PACC credit through Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, they will need to complete a request for an official transcript to be submitted to the college they are attending in the fall. This form is available in the College and Career Center. Your son or daughter can pick up this form, complete it and send it to Saint Mary's University of MN. SMUM will then send an official transcript to the college your senior is attending and the college will review the credits and consider them for transfer.

Also, the college counselors will send a final transcript to the college your son or daughter will be attending the week after graduation. Please know as long as there is not a financial hold on your student's account, their final transcript will be mailed to colleges by Friday, June 7.

Seniors can donate uniforms on May 22

Seniors who donate their uniforms to the school on May 22 will get an out-of-uniform pass. We share used uniforms with members of our community not able to afford to have multiple uniforms. Donated items should be clean and in good condition, including uniform shorts, skirts, pants, short and long-sleeved shirts, uniform sweaters and sweatshirts. Seniors can donate in the Convocation Lobby on May 22 from 7:15 am to 7:45 am before school to get a pass to be out of uniform that day.
