We are very excited and thank you in advance for your participation!
AHA Dinner Dances Registrations due by March 22
It is time for the 20th annual Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dinner dances. This year they will be on Friday March 29 (Father/Daughter) and Saturday March 30 (Mother/Son). The dances will be held at the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest (same location as 2018!) Join us for a delicious meal, dancing to great tunes, games, and chatting. For your convenience, this year there is an option to pay online via paypal. Registrations are due by March 22. Get more details and register now for both dances. If you would like to volunteer to be part of this awesome event, email AHAdinnerdances@gmail.com
Course Request Review due by March 29
Parents/Students, you should have received your Course Request selections for the 2019-20 school year in the mail. Please make sure there are 21 selections of courses total. In addition, make sure there are 7 selections each trimester. If there are 6 one tri and 8 in another, that is a problem and you need to see Ms. Taffe, Mr. O'Leary or Ms. Meacham in the Guidance Dept.
Changing courses or electives after March 29th will be done only if our master schedule can accommodate and a $35.00 scheduling change fee is paid.
WE WANT YOU TO KNOW
Starfest Homeroom Donations
Starfest is approaching! Each homeroom is asked to participate by donating a basket or item for the Silent Auction. Please ask your student about the donation that his/her homeroom is planning to donate. Thank you!
Vaping and chemical health education
Proactively educating our students about chemicals is a community effort, and one that requires both empathy and firm standards. Read our call to action from Counselor Matt O'Leary, outlining strategies for having a productive and meaningful conversation with your student about vaping, alcohol, and other drug use. If you have concerns about your student or questions about AHA's efforts in this regard, contact Mr. O'Leary (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Looking for your fun ideas!
The Starfest Committee is asking YOU to consider donating an item to the 2019 auction! From big to small, your ideas and donated items are welcome and much appreciated. Attached is a simple form. Please email it to Sarah Hauer email@example.com.
Mothers of Senior Sons - dance video
There is a tradition at the Mother/Son Dance, held this year on March 30, that the senior mothers perform a dance at the event. The final practice is at 6:30 pm in the small gym on Tuesday March 26. If you have any questions, email Tricia Block firstname.lastname@example.org. Please email Tricia, email@example.com, to request a link for the videos so you can practice on your own time! Tricia will be collecting donations for Kayla for her time and hard work choreographing the dance. Also, purple scarves have been purchased for $3 each, to be paid separate from the donation.
Calling All Moms: The Annual Momtini Party is coming up Friday, March 29!
Join a fun group of Holy Angels Moms for the annual Momtini party where you will enjoy drinks and treats from 7-10:30pm. Checks should be made payable to AHA Booster Club in the amount of $25 with “Momtini" in the memo. Be sure to include your name and email on the envelope so we can add you to the evite with the details. Please mail or return to Doris Rothstein in the school spirit store. Contact Missy Youmans at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions. See flier.

College Fair at Saint Thomas Academy is April 10
College Fair at STA is April 10
Holy Angels, Visitation and Saint Thomas Academy share a college fair and it will be held this year at Saint Thomas Academy on Wednesday, April 10 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Our college fair will utilize Lead Retrieval technology. This is the same technology used at the National College fair in Minneapolis, if you attended that fair last fall. This technology allows student to create a bar code of their information that will then be scanned by colleges at the fair. Students will no longer have to fill out interest cards for each college, maximizing their time in conversation with college representatives. In order for this to run as smoothly as possible students are highly encouraged to create their bar code prior to arrival at the fair. Students can register and create their bar code at http://gotocollegefairs.com. Once on the site, scroll through the college fair options until you find the Catholic College Fair at Saint Thomas Academy. Get the flyer with more information.
Junior College Planning Day Assignments due April 12
During College Planning Day on Wednesday, February 13, the junior class heard from a variety of college speakers and a career panel of Holy Angels alums. Juniors also received information about their Junior College Portfolio Assignment which is due on Friday, April 12. Completed portfolios will include:
- a College Application Preparation Worksheet
- a completed College Application
- College Essay, typed, 650 word limit
- an Activities Resume
- a College search printout
- a Job Shadow/Interview completed and a half page summary typed on "Would I want to pursue this career, why or why not?"
Completion of the portfolio will be indicated on student transcripts. Any portfolio turned in after April 12 at 7:50 a.m. will be considered late and therefore permanently listed as "incomplete" on the transcript.
To get a STAR on the CCC Board
Senior Parents: Remind your student to bring in their admission and scholarship letters to their college counselor to get a STAR on the board. We need to know about scholarship awards for Celebration Day in the spring.
Senior grades count
Senior Parents: Please remind your senior that every college admission decision is conditional upon successful completion of high school. The college counselors will be sending a final transcript to the college your son or daughter decides to attend after graduation. Colleges DO review these grade reports and if they note dropped classes or decreased grades, they will and do reconsider admission decisions and in some cases, rescind admission. Any schedule changes for third trimester must first be approved by colleges as students have applied and been accepted to schools with the understanding your student was enrolled in certain classes. Any changes to those classes could also impact their admission decisions. We absolutely believe the work seniors are doing now will help them be prepared for a more successful transition to college in the fall.
The deadline to register for the May 4 SAT or SAT Subject Test is Friday, April 5. Students can register online at sat.org
