Academy of Holy Angels Announces $10.5 Million Our Call: To Lead & Serve Campaign

February 20, 2019 (Richfield, MN) - Today, Academy of Holy Angels (AHA) publicly launched the Our Call: To Lead & Serve fundraising campaign, a $10.5 million effort to comprehensively fund both capital enhancements and annual funding for the Catholic high school. This fundraising initiative is the largest in school history and is a collective effort led by Honorary Chairs Fr. Mike Tix and Mary Jo Feltl, Co-Chairs Chuck and Colleen Knapp and Joe and Beth Meyer, President Tom Shipley, a volunteer Campaign Cabinet, and the school’s Board of Trustees and Advancement Team. The campaign is a response to the school’s 2014 strategic plan and a 2016 feasibility study.

While operating in a ‘quiet’ phase for the last 18 months, AHA community members have already committed approximately $8.4 million toward the overall goal of $10.5 million. The school has secured nearly 400 gifts including a $1 million lead gift and multiple other transformational gifts which have provided capital for early project success.

Academy of Holy Angels intends to accomplish a variety of initiatives with the Our Call: To Lead & Serve funding. This includes plans to keep tuition affordable and increase scholarships; enhance faculty compensation, training, and classroom technology; renew and enhance a beautiful but aging 80-year-old school building and campus; and build a permanent and growing endowment. “Through the Our Call: To Lead & Serve campaign, Academy of Holy Angels aims to enhance the excellence of our current Catholic, college-preparatory programs and share our mission to directly benefit more students - today and in the future. Once completed, our ability to educate students will be transformed,” says Tom Shipley, President.

Early generosity has already allowed the school to refurbish the second floor classrooms and hallway, upgrade three science classrooms, resurface all campus parking lots, complete the installation of a new artificial turf athletic field, renovate the College & Career Center, and increase the school’s endowment to over $3 million. In addition, funds raised in the ‘quiet’ phase have enabled the administration to enhance faculty and staff compensation and benefits and continue to increase student financial aid.

Once the remaining $2.1 million is raised for the campaign, the school intends to complete renovations to the theater, build five new classrooms - including a new state-of-the-art STEM lab, increase need-based student scholarships and grow the endowment. During the final and public phase of the campaign that was launched today, Academy of Holy Angels will be inviting the entire community – alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, and others friends of the school – to participate in the campaign. The goal is to reach the campaign goal of $10.5 million by the school’s fiscal year end of June 30, 2019.
