Winter Sports Success

Academy of Holy Angels has over 70 different activities, clubs and sports in which our students can become involved.  Today, at our weekly all school convocation, captains of these sports and clubs had the opportunity to share their successes with the student body.  Here are some of the highlights through December:

Boys Basketball - The team is 8-1 and off to their best start since the 1988 season.  They are currently in the top 10 for scoring in class AAA and state ranked in the top 15.

Girls Basketball - The team is currently 7-2 and ranked #3 AAA in the state.  The team has defeated three other state ranked teams while facing five AAAA teams so far.  The team will be competing for their fourth consecutive trip to state and conference championship.

Dance - The team won the Tri-Metro Conference Championship for the fifth straight year.  They also placed first in Jazz at the Burnsville Blaze Invite last month.

Boys Hockey - The team is 8-3 and off to their best start since the 2011 season.  The team just finished 2-1 at the Schwan Cup to capture third.

Girls Hockey - The team has equaled last year's win total with nine games still remaining.  They earned a nice win over state ranked Minneapolis and finished 2-1 at the A/C Holiday Classic to take second place.

Theater - They are preparing for the MSHSL One Act Competition and will be performing Much Ado About Nothing: The Benedict and Beatrice Story.  Stay tuned for upcoming performance dates!

We also had the opportunity to hear from Alpine Ski, Book Club, Girl Up Club, Knowledge Bowl, Math STARS, Newspaper, Respect Life Club, Skeet Shooting, Spanish Club, Speech, Social Justice Club, Students Assisting Students, Table Tennis, Trap Shooting and Writer's Club.

In addition, AHA co-ops with Richfield in Gymnastics, Nordic Ski and Wrestling.  We will get to hear from these students next week.

Thank you to all of our student presenters today and best of luck the rest of your seasons!
