Congratulations to seniors Jack and Mitch Hendrickson on being selected as two of only six recipients in the state for the 2018 Vikings Community Captains Award, presented by Sleep Number! The Minnesota Vikings announced the award to the twin brothers yesterday during a tour of U.S. Bank Stadium; it was a surprise for the Hendrickson brothers and their parents!
Jack and Mitch were nominated for the award by Ann Kjorstad, their College and Career Counselor, in recognition of their leadership in the community both on and off the football field. Jack and Mitch are captains for the football, hockey and lacrosse teams at Academy of Holy Angels and are actively volunteering with the Campus Ministry Team.
The Hendrickson family, along with Head Football Coach Jim Gunderson and Ann Kjorstad, received a tour of the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center before the two were surprised with the award. Jack and Mitch will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for college, a custom pair of cleats designed with the charitable organization of their choice, a Sleep Number bed, and $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. The brothers are excited to donate their award money to the family of Zach Zarembinski, the football player from Hill-Murray who suffered a brain injury this past season.
The Hendrickson brothers will be recognized with the other four recipients at the next home Vikings game on December 16 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Great job, Jack and Mitch!
