It's Homecoming week at AHA!

Thank you to the AHA Student Government for their enthusiasm in planning the week of festivities for Homecoming 2018.  

Monday, October 1: B Schedule. Dress theme: Denim Day. 

Tuesday, October 2: C Schedule. Please wear uniforms for Angelus Mass.

Wednesday, October 3: PLC Schedule - Late Start. Dress theme: Groufit (wear all grey). As a reminder, Professional Learning Community (PLC) days allow teachers to gather before school for department and grade-level meetings. School starts late for students at 8:25 a.m. Buses run at their regular times, and there's supervision at school for students who arrive early.

Thursday, October 4: B Schedule. Dress theme: Holiday: 12th - 4th of July, 11th - Christmas, 10th - St. Patrick's Day, 9th - Valentines day, Staff - Halloween. 

Friday, October 5:  B schedule. Dress theme: AHA spirit wear. 

Saturday, October 6: Homecoming Dance. Cost is $5 and two items for food shelf donation. The dance is for AHA students only.

Homecoming dance chaperones needed

The AHA Parent Association is looking for six parents to chaperone the Homecoming Dance, Saturday October 6th. Parents run the coat check and will be needed from approximately 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm. This is a very fun and easy way to get involved at AHA! 


Monday, October 1st: Winter sports registration begins

Beginning October 1st, registration for winter sports will be available here.  All forms must be complete upon submission. All student athletes must complete a baseline concussion test through the Holy Angels health staff prior to participation in activities. A sports qualifying physical must be submitted in hard copy format to the activities office every three years.

AHA Winter Baseline Concussion Testing Dates:

  • Oct. 8th - 3pm
  • Oct. 15th - 3pm
  • Nov. 1st - 3pm
*Testing is in room 2493. If you have a chrome book and mouse please bring it. The school has a limited number of laptops. Test takes approx. 45 minutes.


Winter Sports Start Dates:


  • Dance - Oct. 22nd
  • Girls Hockey - Oct. 29th
  • Alpine Ski, Girls Basketball and Boys Hockey - Nov. 12
  • Boys Basketball - Nov. 19

Reminder to register for conferences

Register for parent/teacher conferences from September 21 through October 8. Parent/teacher conferences are October 10 and 11 from 2-7:00 pm. AHA uses an online registration system. To register, go to > Parents > ConferenceRegistration. The conference registration system will ask you for a master password which is case sensitive. Then, you'll either enter the login that you created when you registered previously, or you'll have the opportunity to create a new login. You will not be using your NetClassroom ID and password for conference registration.

If you wish to schedule a meeting during conferences with Ms. Hocks (Learning Variations), please email or Mr. Gunderson (RTI)

Desserts for staff during conferences

Conference time is approaching and the Parent Association is once again asking families to consider bringing in a dessert for our staff to enjoy during their dinner break at conferences. We are also looking for a host/hostess to help with the event from approximately 3:30-6:30pm each day. Please click on this link to access the sign up. Thank you!

AHA lawn signs

On behalf of the admissions department, AHA lawn signs will be available in the main lobby starting Monday, 10/1. Please stop by to take one to display on your front lawn and show your STARS pride! Remember to take car decals from the lobby desk. Spread the word about AHA to family, friends, neighbors, coworkers!

Summer service and/or vacations?

Parents, please encourage your kids to submit their summer service hours here

In addition, the yearbook team is looking for photos from summer vacations and mission trips. If you took photos and would like to share them with the yearbook team, please email them to Mr.Gorrill. You may also use Josten's replay it app on IPhone or Android to upload photos to the yearbook directly.

Senior pictures are due by Oct. 17th

Senior Parents: Reminder that graduation portraits, senior quotes and optional yearbook ads are due Tuesday, October 17th. If photos are not received by October 17th, the Josten's photo may be used in the yearbook. Get the information.


Friday, Oct 12th: Grandparents & Special Friends Day

RSVP's are coming in for this well-loved tradition! The 2018 Grandparents & Special Friends Day will be held on Friday, October 12th at 1:00 PM in the gymnasium. Invitations have been mailed directly to grandparents. Full details available here. 

Tuesday, Oct. 9th: Sophomore field trip 

On October 9th, all 10th graders will be taking a field trip to the St. Paul Cathedral between 11:30 and 2:30 as part of the Church and Paschal Mystery classes in the Theology Department. Permission forms will be sent with students for parents to sign and return. A small fee will be included to help pay for the transportation. Students will need to bring their own bag lunch and beverage. If they have a cell phone with internet access, they will be encouraged to bring them along so they can engage in a virtual guided tour as part of the experience. 

Monday, Nov. 5th: Sibling & Cousin Day

Mark your calendars for our AHA  Sibling and Cousin Day on Monday, November 5, 2018.  We welcome all 7th and 8th Grade siblings and cousins, to come join your AHA student for a day.  Have lunch on Admissions, spend time together, meet friends, see classes and be a Future STAR!  

All siblings and cousins need to be registered by Thursday, November, 1st.  This event is limited to the first 90 guests so we have enough classroom space. CLICK HERE for more information and to register a sibling/cousin.

Thank you to parents and students who attended College Planning Night on Monday! We enjoyed seeing so many of you and our speakers and panelists enjoyed your questions and enthusiasm!

9th Grade Parents: Watch your mail next week for a letter from the college counselors with your assigned 9th grade meeting date and time! We hope to have the letters in the mail by October 2nd.  Your counselor will schedule a meeting for you and your student but if the assigned time doesn't work, contact your counselor to reschedule.  Ms. Kjorstad works with students with last names A-L and can be reached or at 612-798-2691 and Mrs. Proctor works with students with last names M-Z and can be reached or at 612-798-2639. We look forward to working with your family!

Transfer students, the College and Career Center counselors want to meet you! 

Welcome to Holy Angels! The college counselors would like to meet with all new transfer students (and their parents if possible) to introduce them to the services offered by the College and Career Center. Juniors and Seniors: Free opportunity to visit University of Mary

There is a great opportunity for AHA juniors and seniors to join upperclassmen from other Twin Cities Catholic high schools to visit University of Mary in Bismarck, ND for free! A bus will depart AHA on Sunday morning, October 7 at approximately 8 a.m. and return Monday, October 8 around 10 p.m. Students will stay in a hotel in Bismarck and have the opportunity to tour campus, meet with faculty and students and see for themselves the many opportunities that exist at University of Mary. This visit is open to juniors and seniors only and interested students can sign up online using this link. Transportation, food and hotel are all free for AHA students.  Questions? Planning college visits over MEA Break?

So is every other junior or senior in MN - plan ahead! Just a reminder that October 18 and 19 are very popular visit days at all Minnesota colleges as well as in North Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin. If you and your student are planning college visits over fall break, please call the colleges now to reserve space for a tour and appointments on campus. Have a great visit!

Students interested in taking the October 27 ACT must register by September 28 at

Students interested in taking the November 3 SAT or SAT Subject Tests must register by October 5 at

  • Jim Gunderson, head football coach, has been named as the 2018 Augsburg University Athletic Hall of Fame "Excellence in Coaching" Award recipient. He will be honored at the school's Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony on Thursday October 11th. Congratulations to Jim on this very prestigious and well deserved honor!
