On Thursday, May 24th, the Academy of Holy Angels' (AHA) community will celebrate the 5th annual All School Service Day. On this day, the school aims to engage the students, faculty, staff and alumni in meaningful service and highlight and celebrate servant leadership.
After mass presided by Father Tix, over 725 AHA community members will disperse and cumulatively volunteer over 2,000 hours of their time and talents to various sites, schools, shelters, and organizations across the Twin Cities. Following, at 1:00 PM, the community will welcome AHA alum Mary McGuire '07, reporter from WCCO, to emcee the closing program. The program will include speakers, music, and presentation of Blue and Gold Service Awards.
Two key components of Academy of Holy Angels' culture are to serve others and educate students for life. By consistently serving throughout the year for four years, Holy Angels graduates will have gained a deeper understanding of themselves, the needs of their community, the root causes of important social concerns such as poverty, hunger, discrimination, violence, consumerism, and the treatment of those who are marginalized.
