COMING UP THIS WEEK
Trimester 2 grades now available online
Trimester 2 grades are now available online. Go to AHA's NetClassroom and log on with your ID and password.
If you've forgotten your ID or password, you can use the forgotten password page to have it emailed to the email address we have in your record. If this does not work for you or you have problems logging on or seeing grades, you can email email@example.com for assistance. Make sure to include your full name, your student's name and the email address you used on the forgotten password page.
It's a good idea to print, download or otherwise save a copy of the Trimester 2 grades if you'd like to do any comparisons to other marking term grades. Once mid-trimester 3 grades are posted, the trimester 2 grades are no longer available in NetClassroom.
Wed is Late Start
Wednesday, March 14 is a PLC (Professional Learning Community) late start so that teachers can meet for early morning professional meetings. Classes begin at 8:25 am. Buses run at their regular times and there's supervision for students who arrive at school early. See the whole schedule.
Note of Gratitude
Parents: Many of your children have received either an AHA named scholarship or a general scholarship for the 2017-18 school year. Examples are Flaherty, Guardian Angels, St. Joseph or General. If they did, your son/daughter received a school email from Mr. Foley on March 3 prompting them to write a professional note of gratitude to the benefactor(s) who made this scholarship possible. Please ask your son/daughter to check their email today and to follow the instructions and timeline carefully. Any questions, contact Jesse Foley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
German Trip meeting is March 12
There is a student/parent informational meeting for current German students interested in a trip to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in June 2019. A representative of CETA Tours will meet with us. The meeting is at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12th in the library. Please direct any questions to Mrs. Wicklund (email@example.com).
Order Senior Graduation items (if wanted) by March 16
Senior Parents: Your senior's cap and gown has already been ordered through the school. If you want to order announcements or other graduation themed items directly from Jostens, you may do so at www.jostens.com but you must order by March 16. Questions? Contact Ms. Kjorstad, Graduation Coordinator at 612-798-2691 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Lenten morning Masses on Wednesdays
For your Lenten observance we are offering before school masses on Wednesday mornings in the chapel. Our Chaplain Fr. Mike Tix will be presiding at these liturgies. Masses on PLC schedule days will be at 7:30am and on the other Wednesdays, mass will be at 7:00am.
These masses are a nice way to keep Holy Lent and Open Our Hearts to God. These masses are open to our entire AHA Community; Parents, Students and Staff. Consider joining us in the chapel!

Several of the team sites also have mandatory practice apparel. We encourage you to order now to make sure you are set when Spring practice begins.
WE WANT YOU TO KNOW
Vaping and e-cigarettes
We have become aware that some of our students are vaping and using e-cigarettes. Besides health concerns from using these products, it is illegal for a person under the age of 18 to use or be in possession of an e-cigarette. Students found using an e-cigarette or in possession of one on school grounds or at a school sponsored event are in violation of the school's chemical health policy as well as the MSHSL's policy. These policies even apply to individuals 18 and older who are still enrolled as a student at Holy Angels. Below is a link to an article addressing the health concerns. We ask that you speak with your student about the health concerns using these products and the consequences they face. Read the article.
Seeking trips, tickets and more!
Exciting items are already coming in for the Starfest live and silent auctions, but we still really need YOUR help! Do you have a fabulous vacation home up north? A corporate account for concert or athletic tickets/suites? Connections to a local chef? Please contact Mary Hughes (Starfest Auction Lead) or Sarah Hauer with auction donations, questions or ideas.
Follow AHA Sports and Activities on Social Media
Each AHA Sport and Activity has a page on the Sports and Activities site with information about how to contact the coaches, the schedule, results, program information, program history and social media. Many of the programs have Social Media accounts, mostly Facebook and Twitter, that anyone interested can follow to stay updated on the team. To find these social media accounts, go to the team page and click on the Social Media tab. See the spring sports pages now. You can find links to AHA's official social media accounts at the top and bottom of this email.
Senior photos are requested for the Senior Slide Show
The yearbook will be creating a senior slide show that will be shown at a convocation and the senior retreat. Each slide will include 2-4 pictures (preschool, elementary, high school, graduation). We are able to use any pictures that have been submitted for yearbook ads and all senior portraits. If you did not buy an ad or did not include preschool or elementary pictures in your ad, please send photos to email@example.com. Please attach all photos to a single email. Photos are due Monday, April 30th.

Senior Poster Information
Class of 2018 Parents: AHA has a long-standing tradition of celebrating each senior by displaying a poster of each student. The posters will be on display at the reception following the Baccalaureate Mass on May 30th and completed, laminated posters should be dropped off at the school by May 25th, 2018. Get more details.

FROM THE COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER
Senior grades count
Senior Parents: Please remind your senior that every college admission decision is conditional upon successful completion of high school. The college counselors will be sending a final transcript to the college your son or daughter decides to attend after graduation. Colleges DO review these grade reports and if they note dropped classes or decreased grades, they will absolutely reconsider admission decisions and in some cases, rescind admission. We absolutely believe the work seniors are doing now will help them be prepared for a successful transition to college in the fall.
A word about "Honor Programs"
Your student may receive invitations to attend "Honors or Leadership" programs in the summer from outside companies via mail or email. Holy Angels does not release student information to outside organizations- many of these companies purchase student names from testing agencies. While these companies and their programs are usually legitimate, the cost to attend their programs is usually quite
high. Please know that attending these type of programs or becoming a member of an outside "Honor" program for a fee will not make your student more competitive for college admission. As always, if you have questions, contact Ms. Kjorstad or Mrs. Proctor.
Junior College Planning Day Assignments due April 4
During College Planning Day on Wednesday, January 31, the junior class heard from a variety of college speakers and a career panel of Holy Angels alums. Juniors also received information about their Junior College Portfolio Assignment which is due on Wednesday, April 4 at 8:20 a.m.(this is a PLC day). Completed portfolios will include:
- a College Application Preparation Worksheet
- a completed College Application
- College Essay, typed, 650 word limit
- an Activities Resume
- a College search printout and an information page on one college.
- a Job Shadow/Interview completed and a half page summary typed on "Would I want to pursue this career, why or why not?"
Completion of the portfolio will be indicated on student transcripts. Any portfolio turned in after April 4 at 8:20 a.m. will be considered late and therefore permanently listed as "incomplete" on the transcript.
Sophomore Career Interest Inventory
Looking for fun dinner conversation with your sophomores? Ask them about the results of their "Do What You Are" career interest inventory this week. Sophomores completed a career interest inventory called "Do What You Are" on Tuesday, March 6 in their family connection accounts in homeroom. This will provide sophomores with possible majors and careers based on their personality. If your sophomore give you a blank stare when you ask about this, perhaps they haven't completed the inventory yet. Do encourage them to do so! The college counselors will review the results of the inventory and the information gleaned from the surveys with students during a Sophomore Class meeting on Tuesday, March 13.
Deadline to Register for the April 14 ACT is Friday, March 9. Students can register online at act.org

If you are interested in the AHA Test Prep class taught by AHA faculty, the cost is $200 and here is a link to the registration form. The last day to register for the AHA ACT Prep Class is this Friday, March 9. Please contact Ms. Kjorstad if you have questions.
Senior Parents-- We need to know about admission and scholarship awards
Senior Parents: Remind your student to bring in their admission and scholarship letters to their college counselor. If students have been waitlisted or denied admission, we need to know this information so we can help advise them on how to proceed and offer advice on other options. Please encourage your student to share all admission decisions with their college counselor! We need to know about scholarship awards for Celebration Day in the spring. Thank you for your assistance!
