"I felt so appreciated"

"I felt so appreciated"

At the danceOne of AHA's international students shared the photo above with us and the story behind it,

The most important thing that made me want to go to the party was thanks to my friends. Because I'm an international student, I often do not have my parents around. I always wanted to attend the Father and Daughter dance and longed to experience it. My friend Holly is a very generous, graceful, and the sweetest girl. Holly always seems to understand what I want; she is like my unbiological sister . She is the girl who makes my problems her problems, just so that I don't have to go through them alone.  Holly had discussed with her dad if they could sign me up for the dance and have me as Holly's family. It suprised me when her father decided to write down my last name as theirs. How can I expect more? I felt so appreciated and thankful for them. I know this is just a small thing but it really touches me deeply.  It made me feel welcome into this world and this country. I want to thank all of my friends who have always stood by my side when times get hard and thanks to God for this unique, lovely and special person you've created. I love them so much.
