Larry Fitzgerald, a member of the Academy of Holy Angels Class of 2001, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8, 2026, recognizing his status as one of the greatest players in NFL history.  

During his Hall of Fame speech, Larry acknowledged the teachers, staff, and community of Academy of Holy Angels for supporting him at every step of his journey.

AHA community members in attendance at the induction ceremony were: brother Marcus Fitzgerald '03, former AHA football head coach Mike Pendino, classmates and teammates Andrew Cole '01 and John Stocco '02, John's wife and AHA teacher Lisa Stocco, former basketball coach Jesse Foley '89, and Annie Foley '92. 

Jesse Foley reflected, "Having coached Larry over 25 years ago, and having watched his incredible success since, to be present to witness his enshrinement into the NFL Hall of Fame was an experience I'll never forget. His acceptance speech was filled with gratitude, wisdom, and humor, and I'm not surprised that in his speech he pointed out the profound impact of his Holy Angels education". 

At Holy Angels, Larry excelled in football, basketball, and track and field. In football, Larry earned All-State and All-Metro honors, showcasing the talent, discipline, and team-first approach that would define his career. 

Celebrating Larry's Legacy

Academy of Holy Angels is thrilled to immortalize Larry's impact on our school and community by naming the main athletic field at the StarDome "Fitzgerald Field". The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday, September 18, 2026, at halftime of the Holy Angels/Armstrong Cooper football game.
