Academy of Holy Angels is excited to announce the hiring of Jake Schuman as the new head coach of the girls hockey program. With an impressive background as both a player and a coach, Coach Schuman brings a wealth of experience, passion, and deep community ties that will continue to elevate AHA’s already competitive program.

Jake’s hockey journey began at Benilde-St. Margaret’s, where he played varsity hockey and was a key contributor to two state championships. After high school, Jake advanced to junior hockey before playing at the collegiate level for the University of Wisconsin–Stout. His playing experience at those competitive levels has shaped his understanding of the game and his commitment to excellence.

With over 10 years of coaching experience, Jake has worked extensively with both boys and girls high school hockey teams, including Armstrong/Cooper High Schools and Holy Angels. His coaching credentials also include valuable involvement with the U.S.A. Women’s National Team and the Girls Summer Community Olympic Development Program. Beyond coaching, Jake has served as a counselor at AHA for five years, giving him a unique and personal connection to the school community.

The STARS Girls Hockey program has seen tremendous success in recent years, advancing to the state tournament in back-to-back seasons. With Coach Schuman at the helm, the program looks forward to building on this momentum, fostering a culture of skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Coach Schuman shares, “It is a great honor to have the opportunity to be the new head coach of AHA Girls Hockey.  Coach LaMere took the program to new heights over his tenure as head coach, and I feel it is my duty to continue with the success and class that Coach LaMere instilled in this program.  I am excited to start a new chapter with AHA Girls Hockey.”
