President Tom Shipley

After twelve years leading Academy of Holy Angels, President Tom Shipley has announced his plans to step down from his leadership role in July of 2024. Tom will continue to be involved with Holy Angels but felt this was an appropriate time for his transition and recalibration after 40 years in education and 28 years of Catholic leadership. Tom has been an incredible leader who has truly made Holy Angels a stronger and more impactful Catholic educational resource. His accomplishments speak loudly to his successful leadership. This includes the recognition AHA received during his tenure from Cognia: world-wide accreditation as a School of Distinction.

“Serving as President and being able to lead Holy Angels has been an amazing and special gift,” Tom Shipley shared. “From leading our School community through unprecedented times, strengthening the School’s financial foundation, initiating an endowment, retiring the debt, expanding academic and athletic facilities, and establishing the framework of the School’s Strategic Plan, I am incredibly proud of what we as a School have been able to accomplish. We have doubled our financial assistance for families and taken major strides in rewarding our faculty and staff in our salaries and benefits offerings. Our work will also ensure that Holy Angels will continue to thrive into the future. My tenure as President at Holy Angels has been a family commitment and a labor of love. Holy Angels will remain near and dear to our hearts.”

The Board of Trustees has been working with Tom on a succession plan since January. There is an extensive process underway in partnership with the Archdiocesan Office of Mission for Catholic Education to support a coordinated leadership search and transition. Working in concert with the Archdiocese, we will now move forward with a thorough search process to find and bring our next leader onboard.

The AHA Board of Trustees is committed to finding the right person who will continue to build on our important legacy of providing students an award-winning Catholic education experience. We will share more information about the search process soon and seek community input as this work progresses.

Please join me in thanking Tom, and his wife Beth, for their support of Holy Angels and commitment to Catholic education. Tom’s leadership has created a lasting legacy that will benefit Holy Angels for decades to come.

May God bless you,

Yvonne Houle-Gillard
