College Counselors Ann Kjorstad and Tina Proctor
Updated

College and Career Counselors Ann Kjorstad and Tina Proctor recently received the 2026 Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling (MACAC) Student Service Award! This award is given to MACAC members who have been instrumental in making post-secondary education opportunities available to historically underrepresented students.

Ms. Kjorstad and Mrs. Proctor found this award very meaningful as they are recognized for their outstanding work with AHA's students.

Their nominator said of their work:

"If ever there was a program to use as the gold standard for college advising, it's the AHA program built by Ann Kjorstad and Tina Proctor! These two powerhouses have built a comprehensive, accessible, developmentally-appropriate program that supports all of the approximately 700 students enrolled at AHA. They combine individual student and family meetings with class-wide, day-long events and extensive evening programming for students and families to ensure that all students and families gain knowledge and timely information to feel empowered in walking through the post-secondary planning process.

They meet individually with each student on their caseload over the course of the year to establish trust and develop a relationship that their students will come to rely on and leverage. They are experts in their field and are held in the highest regard by colleagues on both sides of the desk. They use humor, grace, and compassion to guide their students along the path to adulthood, all while walking the tightrope of engaging parents/guardians without allowing them to take over the process. You'd be hard-pressed to find more hardworking, informed, passionate, and fun college counselors anywhere.

They are not only exceptional at what they do, but they are also exceptional human beings, a true gift to all of those lucky enough to work with them."

Congratulations, Ms. Kjorstad and Mrs. Proctor, and thank you for all you do for our STARS!!
