Inspire STEM Conference 2024
Updated

On November 21, eight students from Academy of Holy Angels participated in the 7th Annual University of Minnesota Institute for Engineering in Medicine INSPIRE Conference. The event's focus this year was surgical robotics, offering students a unique opportunity to dive into the world of medical technology.

The conference featured TED-style talks on a variety of engaging topics, including the principles of surgical robotics, the types of surgeries that incorporate robotic systems, and career opportunities within the cutting-edge field. Students gained insight into the growing intersection of medicine and technology.

One of the highlights of the event was the hands-on demonstration of a surgical robot from Medtronic. Students were able to interact with the robotic system, experiencing firsthand how advanced tools are used to perform surgeries.

In the afternoon, students participated in an interactive session that allowed them to apply the engineering design process. They worked together to build a prototype robot aimed at solving a specific medical problem, providing a practical understanding of how innovation can improve patient care.

The INSPIRE Conference was an invaluable experience for the students, most of whom are pursuing their STEM Diploma, sparking interest and offering a glimpse into the future of healthcare technology.
