A tree with AHA at its roots
Updated

As our first trimester begins, we would like to take a moment to reflect on our theme for the 2025-2026 academic year: “Strong in Virtue, Rooted in Christ; Living the AHA Way”.

Each year, our theme comes to life for our students and staff in many ways. Whether through topics and lessons at our weekly Convocation, visibility around campus on posters and bulletin boards, in the lessons of our classrooms, or at school Masses, our theme supports our mission and is a central foundation of our year. This year’s theme brings three important foundational elements together: the virtues, Christ as the center, and the AHA Way.

In focusing on virtues, we affirm our belief in what is necessary for a happy, successful, well-lived life. In reflection, Principal Heidi Foley said, “I often think about values that shape our school community. While our academic and extracurricular programs are designed to challenge and inspire, it is our commitment to character that matters now more than ever. At the heart of this commitment are the four cardinal virtues: prudence, fortitude, temperance, and justice. We believe these virtues are not just abstract concepts, but practical tools essential for every student’s growth, happiness, and success.”

Since our founding by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1931, our community has been Rooted in Christ. As a Catholic school, we invite all who are a part of the community to love the dear neighbor as Christ calls us to love. AHA President, Dr. David Sorkin, sees Christ’s love at work throughout the school year. “Each and every day, I am inspired by the selfless acts of love and generosity I see among our students, parents, faculty, and staff. These acts of love are reminders and point to the greatest love, Christ. When we are rooted in Christ, we can accomplish anything.”

The AHA Way was established in 2009 and has become the framework by which AHA defines and shapes our culture. The four tenets of the AHA Way are to be a part of the solution, help others and ourselves succeed, communicate “you matter”, and honor the absent. This year’s theme enables us to continue reinforcing that the AHA Way is not just words; it is how we live our lives.

At AHA, we form students who are well prepared to enter the real world and tackle the problems and challenges of their lives and time. This means living out the principles of the AHA Way beyond the walls of Holy Angels.

We are confident that being “Strong in Virtue, Rooted in Christ; Living the AHA Way” will guide our students, families, faculty, and staff to growth and success this year and beyond. We hope the whole community will join together and support this year’s theme!
