Transfer Students

Changing schools is an important decision for any family, and at the Academy of Holy Angels we understand that the process can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Every student’s story is unique, and our admissions team is committed to making each transition as smooth, personal, and supportive as possible.

Each year, we work with transfer students from a variety of educational backgrounds and circumstances. Because no two situations are the same, we create an individualized transfer plan for every student to ensure they are academically prepared, socially connected, and confident on their first day at AHA.

Transfer Admission Considerations

Beginning-of-Year Transfers
The most common transfer process involves students who are exploring a new opportunity at AHA for the upcoming academic year. Families will complete the admissions process and receive communication regarding admission decisions.

Accepted transfer students are invited to attend our August New Student Orientation, where they will meet fellow new students, become familiar with campus life, and begin building connections within the Holy Angels community.

Gathering information for a student transfer is crucial. Due to abbreviated summer hours and staff availability during the summer months, transcript collection and teacher recommendations are hard to come by. Holy Angels highly advises families to begin the exploration process in the spring to be sure all information is accurately shared prior to summer vacation. Holy Angels will accept beginning of the year transfers from March15 to August 10.

Mid-Year Transfers
Families occasionally seek a school change during the academic year. While Academy of Holy Angels accepts transfer inquiries and admissions applications throughout the year, mid-year enrollment is limited to students who are able to begin within:

• the first 10 school days of the first trimester, or
• the first 7 school days of the second trimester.

These timelines help ensure students are positioned for academic success and are able to transition effectively into the AHA community.

Senior-Year Transfers
Because of the unique academic, counseling, and community experiences built into the AHA curriculum, senior-year transfers are limited to families relocating from out of state or experiencing significant extenuating circumstances. Please contact the Director of Admissions to discuss potential next steps and determine whether a transfer may be appropriate.

Criteria for Admission
The mission of Academy of Holy Angels is to educate and nurture a diverse student population so that each student, as a whole person, may achieve their full potential to excel intellectually, live spiritually, lead responsibly, act justly, and serve selflessly.

Academy of Holy Angels is committed to providing an exceptional Catholic educational experience and welcomes students who are eager to contribute to and benefit from our vibrant learning community. As part of the admissions process, each application is reviewed holistically to ensure that students are well-positioned to thrive in the academic, spiritual, and community life of Holy Angels.

Should the number of qualified applicants exceed available enrollment capacity, admission decisions will be guided by the following considerations:

I. Criteria for All Applicants

Academic Preparation
Evaluation of a student's academic record, achievement, and demonstrated commitment to learning.

Character, Leadership, and Service
Consideration of a student's conduct, involvement, service, and recommendations from teachers, administrators, or other mentors.

Student Personal Essay
Review of the student's written reflection and interest in becoming a member of the Holy Angels community.

II. Admission Priority Considerations

Priority consideration may be given to applicants who meet the above criteria and who:

• Have a sibling who currently attends or previously attended Academy of Holy Angels.
• Have a parent or grandparent who graduated from Academy of Holy Angels.
• Are children of Academy of Holy Angels staff members.
• Have participated in Catholic faith formation or religious education programs, with priority given in the following order:
• Students who attend or have attended a Catholic elementary or middle school.
• Students with substantial Catholic religious education experience.
