Knowledge Bowl takes place during the winter season. Teams of students compete in written and oral rounds by answering questions related to all areas of learning typical of secondary educational programs. The questions test students' recall, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
The AHA Knowledge Bowl team won spots in the state tournament in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2021.
In 2016, the team took home the AA State Championship.
In 2021, they competed in the first-ever Knowledge Bowl Nationals Competition.

Math Stars takes place during the Winter season. The program was created to give students an opportunity to use their math skills and abilities to compete with students from other high schools. The Holy Angels math team is a member of the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League in the Tri-Metro Division.
The League exists to identify students who have unusual mathematical ability, to give them recognition and encouragement, to bring them together with similarly gifted students for mutual stimulation, and to encourage them to investigate a study of topics not commonly taught in the high school curriculum.
