Mathematics--Placement for Ninth Graders

Placement for Ninth Graders:
Placement in mathematics courses is based on several factors, including entrance test scores, department recommendation and input from the student and parent(s)/guardian.

Intermediate Algebra--Successful completion of algebra in eighth grade.  

Advanced Intermediate Algebra--Above average student who is motivated, responsible and able to learn at a fast pace. 

Intermediate Algebra  Concepts--Successful completion of algebra in eighth grade; benefits by going at a slower pace. This course is intended for students who need extra time to master mathematical/algebraic concepts.

Advanced Geometry--Successful completion of a high school level Algebra 1 course in 8th grade. Above average, mature, responsible student who is able to learn at a very fast pace. Must pass AHA Algebra Proficiency exam. 

Advanced Algebra II--Successful completion of a high school level Algebra 1 course in 7th grade and a high school level Geometry course in 8th grade. Above average, mature, responsible student who is able to learn at a very fast pace. Must pass AHA Geometry Proficiency exam.
